Frequently Asked Questions and Contact Details

What would be the first step?

You would get in touch with me by calling 0204 537 0932 ( +44 204 537 0932) or by emailing me at elisabethdavies@aol.com - both methods are confidential. It is fine to leave a message on my answerphone. If I'm not able to take the call - I will contact you as soon as I can. At this stage, I can answer any initial questions you may have.

Following this, if you feel you'd like to give counselling or psychotherapy a try, we would arrange an initial session. This appointment could last up to 2 hours, to give you plenty of time to ask questions and to work out how comfortable you feel with me. It also allows me sufficient time to ensure I can give you the best help possible. If you decide to go ahead, we would then fix an appointment to start the course of therapy.

If, after this first session, you decide you'd prefer not to work with me, I can help by referring you onwards to another counsellor or psychotherapist, or by suggesting other things that may be able to help you.

How long will I have to come for?

This depends on a number of things such as what difficulties you are experiencing, how motivated you are and how often you have appointments. Sometimes it can be a few months, sometimes a few years.

Some people will need appointments more regularly than others, but weekly sessions are most usual. As time goes by, we may agree you need appointments less frequently and this can easily be arranged.

How quickly can I expect some results?

Although you will probably begin to feel better relatively soon after starting counselling or psychotherapy, it is quite likely the underlying problem will take some time to work on. For many people, there is a long history behind what has brought them to seek help and it simply isnt realistic to expect a quick fix. Some people may need sessions for a few weeks or months, others for a few years.

How much does it cost?

Please contact me for prices for the initial consultation and for individual 50-minute sessions. These are negotiable where there is proof of genuine hardship.

Relationship counselling sessions are 50 minutes long, and my current fees are slightly higher than individual sessions - longer sessions are charged approximately pro-rata. Prices are negotiable where there is proof of genuine hardship.
